Consumer demand for healthy food alternatives has continually been on the rise, Danone seeks to capitalize on this growing market by accelerating plant-based foods investments. With plans to triple its sales of healthy food by 2025 from the current 1.7bn EUR in sales of plant-based products, the French group aims to reach 5bn EUR in the next 6 years. In 2017, Danone had already strengthened their ‘healthy eating’ portfolio, buying WhiteWave, a US organic food company, for a figure close to 10bn USD. Now Danone wants to expand the distribution of lactose-free ice cream, vegan cheese and other plant-based foods….
